World Association of Zoological Gardens and Aquariums

(WAZA - World Association of Zoological Gardens and Aquariums, (formerly WZO, and still further back: IUDZG)

logo WAZA Being set up on 24 August 1946 in Rotterdam, the Association´s mission has been to encourage cooperation among zoological gardens as a way of enhancing breeding standards, ensuring wild life conservation, lending support to national and regional associations of ZOOs, conducting training courses, research, awareness raising sessions, and of representing the interests of ZOOs and of conservation in international organizations and institutions.

European Association of Zoos and Aquaria

(EAZA - European Association of Zoos and Aquaria)

logo EAZAIt dates back to 1992. At that year it emerged from the EC Association of zoological gardens following the political changes of the late 1990s. the Association is open to ZOOs run in the territory of Europe and to adjacent or collaborating areas (featuring 297 institutions in 34 countries) that are in compliance with the Association´s core documents. Those include, first and foremost, the EU ZOO Directive, drawn up in 1999, the Statutes of the Association, Standards for the placement and care for zoo-bred exemplars, and the Code of Ethics. The Association promotes cooperation furthering wildlife conservation, particularly through internationally coordinated breeding programmes for endangered animal species. Furthermore, the Association focuses on awareness raising and education, and promotes cooperation with other conservation and state authorities and institutions.

Conservation Breeding Specialist Group

(CBSG - Conservation Breeding Specialist Group)

logo CBSG Conservation Breeding Specialist Group (CBSG) is a global network of experts savvy in the area of conservation of biological species, organizing conservation breeding, small population genetics, breeding biology, etology, and a host of additional disciplines. Being incorporated within IUCN structures, the Group acts as a world-wide coordinator of intensive controlling of endangered small populations. Moreover, the Group runs a mutual network organizations engaged in wild life protection. It draws up biotope conservation and recovery plans, runs databases of information and of biological materials, ensures interconnectivity of information systems. Since 1990, the Group has had it sown executive authority with headquarters in Minnesota, USA.

International Association of ZOO Educators

(IZE – The International Association of ZOO Educators)

logo IZE International Association of ZOO Educators (IZE) was set up on 6 September 1972 in Frankfurt, and associates experts (both individuals and institutions) from more than 30 countries of the world. Geographically, it falls into six independent units (Europe/Central East, Africa, South & Central America, North America, Australia/N. Zealand, Asia). The key aim of association members is raising the awareness of visitors of zoological gardens using a variety of forms and methods.

Union of the Czech and Slovak Zoological Gardens

(UCSZ – Union of the Czech and Slovak Zoological Gardens)

logo UCSZ Union of Czech and Slovak Zoological Gardens (UCSZ) is an association of fifteen Czech and four Slovak ZOOs. Established in 1990 in Bratislava, it is proof of both long-term working and friendly relationships, and of the urge of neighbouring regions to cooperate. UCSZ is both the professional and moral guarantor of all membership ZOOs in acting in their name on key negotiations held at ministries, participating in drafting laws, and coping with providers of respective ZOOs. Last but not least, UCSZ is a regular member of European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA).

DELITEUS Tourist Trade Union

logo DELITEUS DELITEUS Tourist Trade Union is a syndicate of natural and corporate persons set up in November 1997. As it follows from the name thereof, its main subject of activity is tourist industry run largely in the districts of Děčín (DE), Litoměřice (LI), Teplice (TE), and Ústí nad Labem (US), though not limited to the said region.. Having joined the Union in 1999, the ZOO has participated in all fixtures, such as, e.g., Tourism Fairs, joint presentations run in the media, etc., run by the Union.

Central European Association of ZOO Friends

(CEAF)

logo CEAF Central European Association of ZOO Friends (CEAF) is the proper organization for individuals seeking to explore the world of animals and zoological gardens largely on a professional/scientific, fact-finding, tourist, cultural & educational, project & community basis. Set up in 1999 and geared by the initiative of enthusiasts that would choose ZOOs as their life-long hobby. CEAF runs the Fosák magazine appearing on quarterly basis, issuing up-to-date information on movements in Czech, Polish, and Slovak ZOOs. For the youth, the Association runs the Summer Junior University during the holiday months. It is a thematically based camp with special orientation taking place in a particular ZOO; there the children acquire lots of information concerning animal life.
